First off, Taufaga got transfered to Kumamoto. Gosh I love that Fijian. We got along famously and I miss her even now. Talk about a friend for life.
I will tell you why it`s worth it to bike out in the rain for hours at a time, to be rejected and humiliated every single day of your life for 18 months-2 years. Because as she handed her tag to him, I heard him gasp back a sob that I will never un-hear. He covered his mouth unable to speak. Struck by the jester. Tears immediately filled that 63 year-olds eyes as that young Fijian handed that piece of plastic to him. He could not hold it in. He let out a hand and she shook it. They shook hands until it couldn't be helped. They gave each other a hug. Tears could not be restrained. After all this young girl had done for him, giving him the gospel and whatever broken japanese she could, she was leaving. I`ve never seen a more tender sight in my life.
That is why missionary work is worth it. You live through thousands of rejections just to have one, just one person tell you `thank you'
