This week has been pretty awesome! We`ve seen a lot of miracles this week! We have this one investigator named Shinako. She`s 35 and has schitzophrenia, but she`s been ready to be baptized for about 5 years now. The only thing holding her back is her mom. She ..... doesn`t really like us that much to say the least. But Shinako wants to so bad, but she needs her mom’s permission first. So me and Davidson shimai are determined. We want to see her baptized. So we fasted a few days ago to be able to build a relationship and trust with the mom. To be honest, our odds of gaining her trust were probably a little less than the odds of Ammon gaining King Lamoni`s trust. BUT! We went over one night to her house. Shinako wasn`t home but her mom was! We talked to the mom and got to know her more. We ended up talking to her for like 45 min! It was such a good conversation. She even gave us veggies from her garden(which is kind of like a big deal in Japan. Pretty much if they give you food from their garden, they like you). It was such a miracle. I trust that if we keep this up, we can finally see Shinako baptized. ;D
Oh. I almost forgot. We set a baptismal date with our investigator Mai-chan!!!! :D She`s getting baptized on July 26! I`m pumped!
So actually for the past few days, we`ve been confined to our apartment because Davidson Shimai`s hip has been acting up, so Sister Gustafson has told her to take it easy. I thought it would be fun, but after like a day of doing nothing, I was ready to go out and convert the whole city. I needed to get out of the apartment. Towards the end of the week, we actually got to go out and proselyte quite a bit so that was a huge blessing!
Yesterday was actually SUPER fun! For no particular reason either. Me and Davidson Shimai were out knocking doors for like 3 hours. It was pour rain. Like seriously, I was soaked. My rain coat isn`t really effective after like an hour. We were being denied and rejected left and right, but me and her still were just so happy! We were laughing and singing Disney songs the whole time. My favorite songs to sing while it`s raining are `when I am baptized` `there is sunshine in my soul` and `I`m Preaching the Rain!` (which is my rendition of Singing in the Rain). I can’t quite explain the spirit we felt, but we were just so happy to be out preaching the gospel. Even though we were soaked and being denied left and right. That`s what this gospel does I think. It makes us happy in whatever circumstances we are it. Gosh I can’t tell you how much I love this work, how much I love this country and these people. I wouldn`t trade my experiences here for anything. I love being a missionary
